 | Getting Around Dusseldorf |
|
| Fares to downtown Dusseldorf: Taxi $20; Train $3; Bus $3. From Lohausen Airport the quickest way into the city is with the S-Bahn #7 train service - the trip will take about 15-20 minutes. Departures are from the lower level terminal, every 20 minutes, from 5:00 am-12:30 am. For those preferring buses, catch #727 every 20 minutes at the arrival deck. Plenty of baggage space. |
| U-Bahn (Subway), & Bus & Streetcar |
| | Until 1988, when the city's U-Bahn subway system began operation, the city's chief mode of public transportation was the electric S-Bahn streetcars and buses. The 24-hour Rover pass, costing $5 and valid on all three of these efficient systems, is the recommended ticket choice. Purchase the Rover ticket at the tourist office; buy single tickets on board. |

|
| | | Although a fairly large city, Dusseldorf's central district is easily accessible on foot and the Old Town (Altstadt) prohibits cars. |
