Getting Around Hamburg

Airport Transportation

Fares to downtown Hamburg: Taxi $25; Bus $7. From Fuhlsbuttel Airport the Airport-City-Bus connects to Hamburg's Hauptbahnhof (train station) every 20 minutes and runs between 6am and 9:30pm. Stops along the way are at major hotels and the Hauptbahnhof Kirchenallee.

U-Bahn (Subway) & Bus.

Running north and south, the Hamburg U-Bahn services the inner city and gives way to the S-Bahn trains (that accept Eurail passes) for the suburbs.The discount Tageskarte (all-day pass) and Gruppenkarte (group ticket) costs $4 and $7 respectively. The Hamburg Card is a day card that allows unlimited inner-city transportation, admission to state museums and discounts on tours, for a cost of $7.

Boat

Boat rides are a traditional and great way to get the flavor of this historic port city. Boats depart on a regular basis from Piers 2, 3, and 7 at the Landungsbrucken dock.

Taxi

Taxis can be hailed in the streets or summoned at numerous taxi stands. Fares are not as expensive as in Frankfurt and Munich.
