Marienplatz
(Old Town Square)

The historic heart of Munich captures the city's earthy Bavarian spirit and is chock full of cobbled streets, cultural monuments, shops, cafes, restaurants and a crowd-pleasing Glockckenspiel that chimes daily, 11am- 5pm & 9pm in summer.  The place to be during the annual Octoberfest celebration.

Frauen Kirche

A landmark Cathedral marked by its signature onion-domed towers and Teufelstritt (devil's footprint). Town center.

Peterskirche

This historic tower is largely interesting for its rich baroque interior. Ascend to the top for terrific city views. ADDRESS: Rindermarkt. Mon.-Sat. 9am-6pm; Sun.10am-6pm.

Rezidence

The former Royal Wittelsbach Palace functions today as both a historical museum and theater complex. ADDRESS: Residenzstr. Tues.-Sun. 10am-4:30pm.

Englischer Garten

Munich's popular city park runs from the city center to the edge of city. The park is characterized by its romantic walkways, swan-filled lakes and spacious gardens.

Schwabing

Munich's once infamous red-light district has, over recent years, given way to gentrification. Sophisticated and colorful, the neighborhood abounds with interesting shops, good cafes & restaurants and the odd unmarked door.

Schloss Nymphenburg
