Curtain Bluff
Hotel Antigua, Caribbean Islands. Above a bluff overlooking
both the Atlantic and Caribbean oceans, the European inspired
Curtain Bluff Resort allows for a country -club like atmosphere
minus the stuffiness. Marvelous cedar rich guestrooms, marble baths
and private balconies overlooking the sea, affords the utmost in
luxurious living. The hotel's menu and wine list proves to be one
of the island's most creative. Other highlights include squash and
tennis courts, a fitness center, use of dive equipment and sailboats.
While not for the price conscious, it offers authentic value.
For over 45 years, Curtain Bluff has welcomed guests to Antigua. American owners Howard and Michelle Hulford still have a presence here, with the resort being managed professionally for years by Rob Sherman and Cal Roberts. The hotel’s ‘no key’ approach reflects the trust placed in their long-serving staff and many repeat guests.
Fifteen acres of beach and gardens create spectacular vistas for the fully inclusive 72 rooms and suites scattered up the bluff, where cooling sea breezes render air conditioning unnecessary even though the amenity is available.
The 72 guest rooms and suites offer all the qualities of island living combined with every essential amenity and service. Each room is decorated with wicker, sea grass, and exotic wood furnishings, ceiling fans, louvered windows, cool tiled floors and elegant marble or granite bathrooms. Whether on the beach or on the bluff, every room offers breathtaking ocean vistas and a private balcony.
The spacious Junior Suites have marble bathrooms and sunken living rooms, and are situated on the resort’s surf beach (a second beach offers calmer waters for water sports). The luxurious Morris Bay and Grace Bay Suites feature extra touches of indulgence such as four poster beds and balcony Jacuzzis.
The roomy accommodation is ideal for families, and both children and adults will find plenty to keep them amused here. Each May, Curtain Bluff hosts Antigua Tennis Week. Four floodlit courts and three resident pros will help improve your own game, or there’s squash, yoga, swimming in the 75 foot pool, croquet and a full range of motorized and non-motorized water sports.
Renew your energy at the weekly beach luncheon (complete with steel band) or in the main restaurant, accompanied by a bottle from the prodigious wine cellar – only 450 different vintages to choose from!
