St. Thomas / St. John Shopping Overview |
| A sense of European commerce - abundant imports and good value - pervades these once Danish controlled islands. Shopping is duty-free, prices are low and the selections are varied due to the large number of cruise ships that visit the island. Liquor and tobacco offerings are among the best in the Caribbean and are sold below stateside prices. Excellent buys include perfumes, watches, gold jewelry, fine china and crystal. Products manufactured on the islands are tax exempt - you do not have to include them in your very liberal $1,200 duty free limit. On St. Thomas, Charlotte Amile provides the largest stores and the largest crowds. Most shops on St. John are clustered around Cruz Bay. |
