Plazas. Plaza de San Augustin is bordered by the
Market, library and theater. Plaza Principal is
the serene center of town with a statue of Don Vasco
de Quiroga. The smaller Plaza de San Francisco has
a festive Friday Market. |

Colegio de San Nicolas de Obispo (1540), the first
college established in the New World. Exhibits include

de Quiroga in 1554, this small church houses the
Virgin of Health, a statue made from cornstalk and

18th-century convent may not have 11 patios, it
is still an enchanting experience to roam its many
rooms filled with craftsman at work. Addr: Half
block from the Plaza Principal.

| Former monastery Church,
the town library is a charming haven for those seeking
books, quiet or a look at the town's most famous
mural by Juan O'Gorman. They depict the area's history.
Library named for Dona Gertrudis Bocanegra, local
heroine of the War of Independence. Closed Sunday.
