Zocalo

Traditional Mexican zocalo, plus the Plaza de Armas and an adjacent garden, the Jardin Juarez. Live band music on Sundays. Addr: City Center.

Cathedral de San Francisco

Built by Cortes and part of a former Franciscan Monastery. Sundays feature a morning and evening Mariachi Mass, not to be missed. Addr: Hidalgo and Morelos.

Borda Gardens

Originally the home of Jose de la Borda whose mining expertise brought riches to Taxco and later to Cuernavaca. Former home of Emperor Maximilian. Today a gracious park and exhibition hall. Open daily. Addr: Calle Morelos.

Museo de Cuauhnahuac

The former fortress home of Hernan Cortes. Also known as the Palacio Cortes. Today a State museum, renowned for its historical exhibits and murals by Diego Rivera. Closed Mondays. Addr: Plaza de Armas.

House and Museum Robert Brady

The American artist Robert Brady bought this Franciscan monastery in the 1960's and filled it with his vast collection of fine art, Mexican Colonial furniture, fine crafts and Pre-columbian artifacts. Closed Sun-Wed. Addr: 4 Nezahualcoyotl.
