Zocalo

Also called Plaza de la Constitucion, an enormous 10 acre city square surrounded by historical and government buildings.

Catedral Metropolitano

Huge, ornate Spanish Baroque cathedral begun in 1573, using site and materials of former Aztec temples. Daily 8-6 Addr: Zocalo.

Palacio National

Present seat of government and home to historical museums and epic Diego Rivera murals. Daily 9-5. Addr: Zocalo.

Paseo de la Reforma

Built by Emperor Maximilian in 1865 and modeled after the Champs-Elysees. The Reforma connects the Palacio National and the Castillo de Chapultepec. Site also of the Monumento a la Independencia or Angel Monument.

Chapultepec Park

1,600 acres filled with park activities, historical monuments, Maximillian's Palace and museums (see below).
