| Playa Sabalo and Playa
las Gaviotas are the two main beaches skirting the
Zona Dorada. Along with all the hotel amenities
available, water related and other wise, they are
are full of vendors selling everything from silver
to coconuts. Playa Norte is a long stretch south
of the Zona Dorada, that can by rocky in places.
North of the Zona Dorada are most of the surfing
beaches, Playa los Cerritos and Playa Olas Altas
among them, spectacular but not for swimming. A
short boatride to Isla de los Venados introduces
small, pristine cove-like beaches, great for swimming
and exploration. What was once 10 miles of unspoiled
beaches on Playa Isla de la Piedra is now partly
under development, but always worth a day of fun.
